A family law facilitator is a lawyer with experience in family law who works for the superior court in your county to help parents and children involved in family law cases with child, spousal, and partner support problems. The family law facilitator gives you educational materials that explain how to establish parentage; and get, change, or enforce child, spousal, or partner support orders. The family law facilitator can also: give you the court forms you need; help you fill out your forms; help you figure out support amounts; and refer you to your local child support agency, family court services, and other community agencies that help parents and children.

The County Bar Association's Volunteer Legal Services Corporation (VLSC) provides free legal assistance to low-income residents in County with certain non-criminal legal issues. Volunteer attorneys provide all the legal work on a pro bono basis.

The Alameda County Homeless Action Center is a non-profit legal services program for homeless and mentally ill people in our community. Founded in 1990 with a Berkeley Law Foundation grant to respond to the legal needs of homeless people, HAC now provides legal assistance to homeless and indigent people primarily in the areas of public benefits (SSI, GA, Food Stamps, MediCal). HAC staff includes four attorneys, one paralegal, and a projects manager all of whom provide direct client assistance.

Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) is a nonprofit organization serving family violence victims and their children throughout County, California. Last year, FVLC provided legal, support, and crisis intervention services to over 7,000 women and their families in County.

The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) is a non-profit legal organization providing affordable immigration services to underrepresented women and children in Los Angeles. ICWC strives to provide security and stability for children who are abused, abandoned or neglected and for women and children who are victims of trafficking or domestic violence.
