Housing Crisis Center’s mission is to prevent homelessness and to stabilize those at risk in decent, affordable, and permanent housing. We provide services designed to prevent homelessness, housing programs that give safety and shelter to those who need our help, and supportive services to our clients to help them address the issues that led contributed to them becoming homeless. More than 10,000 households rely on HCC for assistance each year.

What is Brazos Valley Area Agency on Aging? The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has been in existence since 1974 and operates under the auspices of the Brazos Valley Council of Governments. Funding is provided through the authority of the Older Americans Acts of 1965, State and local funds, and participant contributions. Eligibility for services is 60 years of age or older. Participation in the Home Delivered Meals Program additionally requires clients to be homebound with no other means of obtaining a meal. Our Mission The mission of the Brazos Valley Area Agency on Aging (BVAAA) is to be a visible advocate and leader in the planning, development and implementation of a system of comprehensive and coordinated services, which promote dignity, independence and quality of life for seniors in their own communities here in the Brazos Valley Region.

The Civil Clinic represents low-income clients in matters ranging from housing disputes to elder advocacy and consumer fraud to civil rights litigation. Qualified second- and third-year students appear on behalf of clients before administrative tribunals and in state and federal courts.

The W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas represents abused and neglected children in Dallas County. The clinic is appointed by the Juvenile District Courts to serve as Guardian/Attorney ad litem for children. Student attorneys, under the supervision of the clinic director, are responsible for determining the best interests of the children and representing the children's voice in court.

The Federal Taxpayers Clinic is the country's first tax clinic with the authority to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Tax Court. The clinic represents low-income taxpayers needing to resolve tax problems with the Audit, Appeals and Collection divisions of the I.R.S. and before the U.S. Tax Court.

Located in Plainview, Texas, Hale County Crisis Center offers a variety of professional legal services in Family, Domestic Violence.

Dispute Mediation Service (DMS) is a private, nonprofit organization that provides accessible, high-quality dispute resolution service such as mediation, conciliation, arbitration, and training for the people in Dallas County. DMS Mediators are community volunteers who are trained in communications skills and conflict resolution techniques. They have diverse backgrounds from which to help our clients develop realistic, workable solutions to their problems. DMS operates under a contract with the Dallas County Commissioners Court.

The Texas Tenants' Union is a nonprofit tenants' rights organization. We empower tenants through education and organizing to protect their rights, preserve their homes, improve their living conditions and enhance the quality of life in their communities.
