Lone Star Legal Aid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit law firm with a rich and deeply respected history of advocacy on behalf of low-income and underserved populations, beginning with the Houston Legal Aid Clinic in 1948 and East Texas Legal Services in 1977. The Houston Legal Aid Clinic, which later became the Houston Legal Foundation, was established by the Houston Bar Association and Texas Southern University, among others. East Texas Legal Services was created as the result of local interest from multiple parties, including client groups in Nacogdoches and Tyler, members of the Nacogdoches County Bar Association, and to some degree, the Jefferson County Bar Association. Both programs were created for the same purpose: equalizing access to justice for low-income persons who otherwise would not be able to afford an attorney to protect their rights and help meet basic needs.

Family Support Services (FSS) is a private, non-profit, multi-service agency that can trace its history back to 1908. FSS serves over 25,000 people each year, including victims of sexual assault, family violence, and human trafficking; at-risk children, families, and individuals; people in need of individual, group, marital, and family counseling; and veterans, family members of veterans, and surviving spouses.

The Houston Area Women's Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. We provide shelter, counseling and advocacy to support them in building lives free from the effects of violence. We seek social change to end domestic and sexual violence through community awareness and education. Our services are confidential and available to everyone.

The Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle serves as the advocate for the Panhandle’s elderly population. To accomplish its mission of promoting dignity, independence and quality of life for older people, the AAA offers a range of comprehensive and coordinated programs designed to assist the region’s elderly population and the families and friends who care for them. The AAA provides services to individuals age 60 and over and their caregivers of the 26 counties of the Panhandle. Funding for the agency is comprised of federal, state, and local funds. The Area Agency on Aging provides the planning, coordination and implementation of many services. Eligible participants can take advantage of such programs as congregate and home delivered meals, adult day care, transportation, minor home repairs/modifications, homemaker services, personal care assistance, and legal assistance/representation. Information and assistance, benefits counseling and long-term care ombudsman are also provided.

Located in Cooper, Texas, Family Haven Crisis and Resource Center offers a variety of professional legal services in Divorce, Family, Domestic Violence.

The Harris County Area Agency on Aging (HCAAA) is part of a nationwide network coordinating supportive services for the elderly as mandated by the Older Americans Act of 1965 and its subsequent amendments. The HCAAA plans and contracts services for senior citizens throughout Harris County. With the Area Agency on Aging acting as an advocate, awareness of the needs of the elderly increases through services that assist the elderly and their families with options that promote independence, well-being and dignity. The HCAAA's programs are tailored to meet the social, nutritional, educational and logistical needs of all Harris County residents age 60 and above. Nutrition services include the home-delivered meal program for the homebound elderly and the congregate meal program at senior centers throughout Harris County. HCAAA offers in-home services, caregiver training and other supportive services.

Catholic Charities' St. Frances Cabrini Center for Immigration Legal Assistance is dedicated to providing high-quality services to individuals otherwise unable to obtain legal representation. Our clients encompass victims of human trafficking, those separated from their families and eager to be reunited, and those who fear persecution in their country of origin.
