The Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc. (FLAC) works with its partner organizations the Elder Law & Advocacy Center and Lakeshore Legal Aid to assist and represent the low-income community of Wayne County, Michigan. The Clinic offers legal advice, as well as represents clients through the entirety of their cases. FLAC provides family law services to low income Wayne County residents in divorces, custody and child support disputes, paternity suits, and domestic personal protection order cases. In serving the elder community (60 years of age or older), FLAC provides assistance in civil legal matters including preparation of deeds, credit collection, garnishment, landlord/tenant, and estate planning, such as preparation of Wills and Durable Powers of Attorney. Since 1965, FLAC has provided a vital service to Detroit and its surrounding communities, while offering law students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a clinical setting.
